RIS3 teams, which operate at regional innovation centres / agencies and are partly integrated into the regional self-government, contribute to the implementation of regional RIS3 strategies, capacity building and development, organizational structures and know-how, and to the quality EDP management in the regions. The financing of the teams is supported by the Smart Accelerator call (OP RDE Priority Axis 2, Specific Objective 5), which is managed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The basic activities supported by Smart Accelerator projects include support for the core team and its training, mapping and innovation analysis in the regions, twinning, preparation of new pilot interventions and support for new strategic projects with assistance activities.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the managing body of the Johannes Amos Comenius Programme (P JAC) announced the Smart Accelerator+ I call for submission of regional projects to build capacities for the implementation and development of regional RIS3 strategies.
The aim of the Smart Accelerator+ I call (in Czech language only, deadline 7/27/2023, volume 1,000 million CZK) is to enable the development of capacities and competences in individual regions of the Czech Republic contributing to the creation of conditions for strengthening smart specialization, the development of innovation ecosystems and the development of cooperation between actors across the spheres of the so-called triple/quadruple helix (especially of research organizations, educational institutions, the corporate sphere and the public sector) in accordance with the priorities defined by the National Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of the Czech Republic 2021–2027 and its regional dimension. The call materially follows on from the Smart Accelerator calls implemented in the Research, Development and Education Operational Program in 2014 – 2020 and its purpose is to further develop cooperation between institutions responsible for the preparation and implementation of research, development and innovation support tools at the regional level and to use the outputs of implemented interventions and projects for further development regions.
